Policy & Advocacy Priorities

This document outlines our key policy priorities for the 2026–2027 legislative session. Developed through LWVNJ membership engagement, these priorities reflect a shared commitment to protecting voting rights, advancing racial justice, expanding access to critical resources, strengthening representation, and ensuring transparency and accountability in New Jersey’s government. This agenda will guide our advocacy, education, and coalition work over the next two years, ensuring we remain focused, strategic, and responsive to community needs.

Voting Rights and a Healthy Democracy
The League of Women Voters of New Jersey is committed to protecting voting rights and promoting open, transparent, and accountable government statewide.

We believe the redistricting process in New Jersey should be impartial, transparent, and put the power where it belongs - in the hands of voters! ‍
Education
We believe that our educational system must be fiscally and educationally accountable to all New Jersey residents. Every child deserves the right to a great education.
Environment
As citizens of the world we must protect our planet from the physical, economic and public health effects of climate change while also providing pathways to economic prosperity.
Immigration
Immigration policies should promote reunification of immediate families; meet economic, business and employment needs; and be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises.
Women and Family
From passing the strongest equal pay law in the nation to protecting women’s health care, the League of Women Voters is a strong advocate of policies that benefit women and families.
Other Issues
The League is a multi-issue organization that takes action on a wide range of public policy positions that benefit us all.
