Everyone Counts in NJ: Bill advances in legislature

LWVNJ volunteers and staff participated in testimony

The NJ Counts Coalition testified in support of the Everyone Counts in New Jersey Act (S4419/A1730), a critical bill to prepare our state for one of the most consequential censuses in recent history.

‍

The bill would activate the Complete Count Commission, establish an Office of Census, and create a Census Trust Fund, building the infrastructure New Jersey needs to support a fair, accurate, and complete count in 2030.

‍

The bill advanced out of the Assembly State and Local Government Committee, marking an important step forward. New Jersey must build on this momentum to protect the federal resources and political representation our communities deserve, and ensure every resident is counted and every community is seen. Take action in support of this bill and contact your legislators.
