The League of Women Voters of New Jersey is happy to provide a Voter
Registration Drive Kit to help individuals register citizens for the
upcoming election. Voter registration drives are a vital part of our
voter service work and the following kit is useful for anyone looking
to plan and run a drive. Feel free to download and print this kit (
pdf's listed below). To request copies of brochures and forms mentioned
in the kit, please contact Jesse Burns, Director of Communications and
Projects, at 609-394-3303 or admin@lwvnj.org. Good luck getting out

We are proud to announce that the League of Women Voters of Mountain
Lakes was presented with the Pioneer Award for their Green Community
Project. LWVUS presents the Pioneer Award for new, unique, and innovative
League programs.
The Mountain Lakes League held monthly meetings to raise awareness
and excitement on a variety of green issues. These meetings consisted
of activities, such as a holiday tea where a local vendor spoke about
the variety and importance of environmentally friendly products, a
joint program on ‘Environmentally Friendly Gardening” with the local
Garden Club, and a discussion of the future needs and constraints
of the local recycling program. The Green Community Project has invigorated
membership for the LWV of Mountain Lakes. They had 20 new members
join at their meeting in September, and they have improved their member
retention rate. This project’s impact has spread to surrounding communities
as well through the viewing of environmental awareness movies and
articles in local publications. They have expanded their reach even
further by establishing an online
blog.

| LWVNJ President, Anne Maiese with Award |
During the convention delegates from around the country approved
many actions that will affect the functioning of the LWVUS for the
next biennium and beyond:
An educational and advocacy campaign against global climate change.
An educational program for members and the public on health care
issues.
A study of the so-called "National Popular Vote Compact" as a way
to bypass the electoral college in electing the president. Interestingly,
the state of New Jersey is one of four that has already approved the
legislation that would achieve the compact.
Election of the first man to sit on the national board.
Budgets, a higher PMP, bylaws changes, and more.
